Annual pageant scheduled
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad's Miss Rappahannock Pageant will be held on April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School auditorium. Registration will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 with the rehearsal beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The pageant is open to all female residents of Rappahannock, up to age 19, in the following categories: Baby Miss, birth to 23 months; Tiny Tot. ages 2-4; Wee Miss, ages 5-7; Little Miss, ages 8-11; Junior Miss, ages 12-15 and Miss Rappahannock 16-19, as well as Little Mister ages 2-6. There will also be a sisters and mother/daughter category.
Contestants are responsible for getting their own sponsor. The fee is $25 and must be paid at the rehearsal along with an entry form. For additional information call Debbie Fantaci at 987-3354.
Diabetes support group offered
A Rappahannock diabetes support group will be offered March 27 by Cathy Tibbetts, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator at Trinity Church’s Parish Hall in Washington from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. To find out more about the support group call Cathy Tibbetts at 987-1151.
Scholarship deadline March 25
Are you interested in working to preserve and enhance Virginia’s precious natural resources? Each year the Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District awards up to three educational scholarships to students who plan to pursue a career in a conservation-related field. These scholarships are available for eligible students living in the five-county area the Culpeper SWCD serves, consisting of Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties.
The Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) will also be awarding at least four $1,000 scholarships. Call the CSWCD at 825-8591 for an application which must be completed and submitted by March 25.
Small Business seminar set
The Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center will have several seminars for starting a small business this spring. The first seminar in the schedule will be “Starting a Small Business” which will be held on March 13. Other seminars are scheduled for March 27, April 10, April 24, May 8, and May 22.
