Remarkable area
We live in a remarkable area of our nation. In 1752. when the town of Woodstock was founded, our American colony was almost a quarter of a century from declaring its independence from England. Three years before Woodstock. Va., was founded, a youthful George Washington personally platted the town now known as "Little Washington.”
From Winchester down the old Valley turnpike through Middletown. Strasburg. on all the way to Staunton, we are blessed to live with a history that spans the chronological breadth of the nation. While we promote our Valley Civil War battlefields and heritage - and well we should - we must not lose sight of our rich colonial and revolutionary heritage.
