It is essential that we have dads volunteer to assist with some of the heavier lifting. Please call Jan Makela at 987-8259, if you have a child in grades K-3. and offer your assistance.
• The RCES Magazine Sales campaign was a huge success. Over $12,000 in sales were made affording the school funds to support a variety of necessary projects. The school nets 40 percent of the profits (which is really quite generous) minus a portion of the prize expenditures. If you helped our school by purchasing magazines from a student or parent, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to volunteer Ruby Dwyer who helps our Secretary Martha Kidwell with this campaign every year. Much of the success of this fundraiser is owed to them.
• Read Across America Day was celebrated at both of our schools on Friday, March 1. Ask your child what was done at his school. A variety of activities were planned in both buildings.
• Spending time with our children is the most valuable thing we as parents can do to insure the future of this planet. Plan some simple outings. Clean out a birdhouse to prepare it for spring nesting, or check out the constellations in the night sky while its clear and cool. Taking a short hike and pointing out creatures or emerging shoots or buds, can be fun and educational. These are memories your child may carry with him for many years. Have a great week!
