CORRIDORS FOR WILDLIFE PROGRAM
With Spring just around the corner, your Rappahannock PEC office would like to announce our Corridors for Wildlife program. We intend to encourage wildlife zones that house food supplies, water, natural habitats and protection. The importance of connecting areas on corridors is vital to our future.
The first focus of this program will be the Eastern Bluebird. Even though the bluebird popujation has greatly decreased, the future can still be promising for them. The most important step we can take to help bring back the bluebird is to provide nesting sites by setting out bluebird boxes. We have portions of a trail, as you will see on our map. Our goal is to add to it and create a corridor in our county. We have bluebird boxes available at our office. John Norman’s Building and Maintenance class, at your Rappahannock County High School, makes these boxes.
Please join us in the first step of this program by stopping at your Rappahannock PEC Office to pick up your bluebird box. Our office hours are 8:30 to 1:30 Monday through Friday. We would appreciate your giving us a call at 987-9441 if you already have bluebird boxes on your property so that you may be included on our corridor map.
