Director Shaffer and Board members expressed hopes that the reduction in the budget for book purchases would be made up in donations and book sales. Upon a motion by Treasurer John McCarthy, the Board agreed to the proposed budget.

Trustee Cheri Woodard said that she expects that the Friends of the Library fund drive would help to offset reductions in State library aid, and she also noted that the Friends had agreed to pay for grounds maintenance.

Trustee Gordon Axelson said that he was concerned with finances over the next two or three years as well, expecting that the State budget crisis would continue for some time, and Mr. McCarthy responded that more care needed to be taken with the library’s endowment fund to assure maximum return on investments.
