Public commenters Wgi Bearfeaid that oily three ouf of one hundred cars in the lot that he worked last Independence Day were from in-County, and Jim Gannon expressed his objection to being forced, as a taxpayer, to pay for parking. Chairman Estes moved to deny the request, but there was no second, and the Board approved Roger Welch's motion to table action for one month.
• The Board discussed the need to obtain easements from property owners for bridge and walkway access and for drainage improvements in the Sperryville Gateway project. County Attorney Peter Luke suggested that they move to authorize him and County Administrator McCarthy to negotiate easements on the bridge, and that the drainage easement issue could be delayed while title searches were conducted. The Board moved to agree to the authorization, with an abstention by Chairman Estes, and Mr. Luke and Mr. McCarthy will negotiate the donation of the easements with landowners Pete and Betty Estes, and with Cliff Miller.
• The Board discussed advertisement of a hearing on the new lighting ordinance but, at the request of Ron Frazier and Bryant Lee, agreed to delay the hearing so that discussions could be held with constituents and business owners.
• The Board agreed to a revised agreement with the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League to operated the animal shelter.
• Mr. McCarthy reported that he had received three responses to the solicitation for a real estate broker for the Aileen Plant, and a committee was formed to decide on the most acceptable response.
• The Board agreed to a meeting with the Freeman family to solicit their proposal for a new right-of-way for access to their properties.
• They discussed an impending $50,000 medical bill for a prisoner being held on attempted murder and other charges. The prisoner is cur- | rently in intensive care, and Sheriff Larry Sherertz expressed hopes that the State Compensation Board would pay for some of the hospi tal costs.
