Book Fair underway
Rappahannock County Elementary School Library is currently hosting a Scholastic Book Fair and it will continue through Monday, Oct. 28. The Fair is a funfilled book sale and literacy event geared to excite children about reading and learning. Parents, children, teachers and the entire community are invited to the Fair.
The Scholastic Book Fair is open each school day from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be drawings each day for free books for students and teachers.
One of the Book Fair’s primary goals is to help teachers build classroom libraries. Visitors to the Fair can check each teacher’s Classroom Wish List, then purchase and donate a requested book, helping teachers develop learning resources for their rooms. The funds earned from Scholastic Book Fair are used to purchase books and materials for the RCES Library.

Nov. 3 meeting
The public is invited to attend the annual meeting of Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Old Sperryville School Auditorium. The main focus of this meeting will be financial pressures and tax considerations facing the county in the coming months.
Beverly Atkins, the Rappahannock Commissioner of Revenue and John McCarthy, County Administrator will each give a short presentation. For additional information call 987-9222.
Flu shots available
Flu shots will be given at the Rappahannock County Health Department on Oct. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. The shots are open to the public. Those attending should bring a Medicare card and adults at high risk should bring their Medicaid card. All others will be charged $12.
