SVKS to sponsor haunted house
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad will sponsor a haunted house on Oct. 31. Haunting starts at 5 p.m. and will last until 9 p.m. Residents are invited to "come if you dare and bring the children for a haunting good time.” Admission is free, however, donations are welcome.

Health program slated
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening program to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center:

Sculpture workshop set
A sculpture workshop, figure in clay, taught by Charles E. Flickinger will be held Nov. 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oldway Art Center. The $250 fee includes model fee and materials. For additional information call 987-9500.
Open house at Wakefield
Wakefield School in The Plains will host an Open House for prospective students and their parents at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Nov. 10. Faculty members, students, alumni, parents, Headmaster Peter Quinn, and Director of Admissions Vicky Jann-Lewis will participate in an open forum, during which time they will provide an overview of the school and answer questions from guests.

CCL C plans fall au ction
The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its seventh annual fall auction and party on Saturday, Nov. 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue, Washington. Cost is $20 per person, and includes food, fun and drink.
There will be live and silent auctions, a tag sale and libations. Among the special items is a tournament-sized backgammon board, handcrafted in Rappahannock County. Live auction items only are available for preview and absentee bidding on Nov. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Washington School. All proceeds benefit the CCLC.
NSDAR members to meet
Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, National Defense luncheon will be held at Holiday Inn, Culpeper on Tuesday. Nov. 12 at noon. The program will be "National Defense.” presented by Mrs. Stephen Hunter. Chairman National Defense Committee, NSDAR. Reservations are due by Nov. 8.
