“Jack” Brown, an Extension Agent in Loudoun County has been honored nationally for his work. He is one of the four county agents in Virginia who received the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Brown is from Rappahannock; was reared on a farm here and educated at VPI.
The Halloween Fun Fair, put on by seventh graders at Rappahannock Elementary to raise money for their annual Williamsburg trip, will feature crafts for sale this weekend. Lori Rutherford was featured in a photo with two wall plaques that the youngsters have been busy making.

In a photo, Randall Updike was flipping burgers for diners at the Rappahannock Farmers Association picnic last weekend at Fred and Klara Kummli’s farm near Huntly.
The Panthers crushed George Mason High and Clarke County last week in cross country, 26-49-49. Leading the pack in the early going were Mark Jenkins, Juergen Venema, Chris Payne, Mike Wolfe, Randy Early and Jason Waters.
Seniors Kevin Jolliffe and Susan Payne were crowned king and queen at Homecoming last Friday.
Bryan Clark of Amissville attended The National Young Leaders Conference Oct. 13-18 in Washington, D.C. Having demonstrated academic achievement, leadership and citizenship, Bryan was among 350 outstanding high school students from across the nation at the conference sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
Haunted houses were planned around the county. One in Amissville sponsored by the Rappahannock Athletic Association will be held at the Digges barn, however, the one scheduled to be held at the Flint Hill Fire and Rescue Department had been canceled.
