In RCCA’s opinion, the county faces a difficult debate during the next few months over where our tax rates and landscape are going. We hope that our November 3 meeting will help advance a thoughtful and unemotional discussion of the issues that we face.

We also hope also that our discussion will build broad understanding of and response to a central finding of the Headwaters’ study, which claims that every property now enjoying land use taxation that is placed under conservation easement instead will bring increased state assistance to our public schools.

Conservation easements help our schools as a by-product to protecting the rural character of our County.
