The Amissville United Methodist Women will sponsor their annual holiday bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the church social hall.
Featured will be Christmas ornaments and crafts, home/ kitchen items, baked goods, fresh Georgia pecans, and a white elephant table. Special this year will be a hand-pieced, handquilted flower garden quilt and a handmade, blue ribbon prizewinning Raggedy Ann up for silent bid.
Delicious lunch items including soups, chili, sandwiches and desserts will be served. Amissville United Methodist Church is located on US 211 in Amissville.
Magic parenting
classes offered
1 2 3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 is being offered by the Rappahannock County Department of Social Services. This system of disciplining allows for parents to count and deliver time-outs in a way that is straightforward and unemotional. Upon completion of this two-part workshop, parents should have a better understanding of what to do and say in response to their child’s inappropriate behavior as it occurs.
The parenting classes are scheduled for Nov. 6 and Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. both evenings at the Rappahannock County Public Library. Attendance is required both evenings for completion of the course. Space is limited to 20 families and registration is required in advance by calling the Rappahannock County DSS office at 675-3313 by Nov. 1.
This training is paid through a Title IVE grant to train foster parents and potentially eligible foster parents in how to discipline effectively their foster children or potential foster children.
Bus rules meeting
A meeting to discuss school bus rules and safety issues will be held on Monday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School Library. All parents and other interested parties are invited to attend.
