U-10 Boys
Coach Letsen's U-10 Team Thunder, sponsored by White Oak Veterinary and Coach Caporuscio's U-10's, sponsored by Long Island Concrete, decided to meet each other on RCES field in a low scoring game (compared to their normal scores). Rappahannock's finest U-10 boys met head to head. Coach Letsen's defense of Ty Bigelow, Henry Miller, Logan Stephens, Shephard Booth-Enoch, Smith Clifton and Andrew Oyster saved the team from having more goals scored on them.
The offense of Tayon Lee, Trevor Lee, Robbie Adams, Jonathan Letsen and Woody Hazel had some great opportunities to score. When the dust cleared, James White and Patrick Lysaught scored for the team for a 2-0 margin. Way to go boys!
U-10
A good spirited game by both U-10 girls and U-10 boys was put together by the three Rapp coaches. The U-10 girls should be complimented on their determination and hard play. Fun was had by Killer Bees, sponsored by Sunnyside Farms, Team Thunder and Rapp 1 Boys.
U-12 Girls
The U-12 girls, Rappahannock Dynamite, sponsored by Ivy Cliff Farms, defeated a strong Madison team, 3-1, on Saturday. After delivering shutouts the previous three games, the girls looked a little shocked to find themselves down 1-0 in the first ten minutes. We were worried they might start playing tentatively or lose their focus after going down 1-0 but they didn't. The players took a deep breath and started working the ball forward again.
Caroline Massie, Megan Wheatley and Marcella Wallace, our three forwards, were all knocking hard on the other door. The Madison goalie responded though, smothering shot after shot. Marcella finally tied the score on a loose ball scramble in front of the net. A few minutes later she intercepted a goal kick and took it straight back into the net for our second goal. Megan and Caroline were relentless on the wings, continually winning possession, crossing the ball to center, and following their passes with lots of pressure.
