have an excellent relationship with Governor Warner, and he has been extremely supportive of our work.
“It is not easy to gauge just how effective the Governor’s Office of Commonwealth Preparedness has been” said Hager. “If its work has helped prevent some terrorist activities, that will probably never be known.”
And he hopes that it will not be necessary for some future terrible terrorist event to test the readiness of the state to respond.
He is certain that the nation is fraught with more danger now than ever.
Part of his agency’s job, he adds, is to assist in educating the public on homeland security and overall preparedness issues.
He is happy that the recent session of the General Assembly enacted a number of measures suggested by the Governor to help improve the state’s preparedness.
