Because we value freedom, the United States allows and encourages responsible dissent and debate of the issues that affect us all. However, w’hen war protesters lay down in the street, prevent emergency vehicles from passing and disrupt the normal flow of business, they have crossed over the line. It is then that they “demonstrate" their true limitations of character and intellect.
As a student at the University of California in the early 1960s I witnessed the absurd antics of Mario Savio and his followers as they overturned and burned police cars under the ridiculous banner of the “Free Speech Movement."
