football supporters are asking us to fund the “volunteer” coaching staff.

What next, asking taxpayers to fund new super-bright school stadium lights? If football supporters want an active football program at Rappahannock public schools, then let them live up to their promise of “no cost to the taxpayers or other existing sports programs at RCHS.”

We pay more than enough in taxes already without being swindled into paying for things that were supposed to earn money for our schools. I say we hold the line on spending, and hold the football supporters to their promise.

If they can raise $25,000 within a month to start the program, surely they can raise the funds privately to fund “volunteer” coaches.
