Lions Club music contest
The annual Rappahannock Lions Club James Bland Music Scholarship Contest will be held at The Theatre on Gay Street Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. This event is hosted by the Lions Club to promote our young people with music abilities and provide them the opportunity to perform in front of a “friendly” audience. The public is invited to attend and support our youth. Scholarship awards will be presented to winners.
GED classes
“Race to GED” classes are now available in Rappahannock County on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Registration for this class will be Feb.14 through Feb. 21. Class registration will be first come, first serve since class size is limited. Call 825-0476 in order to register and for further information on how to enroll.
RAAC Summer Art
Rappahannock artists and gallery owners are invited to participate in a RAAC sponsored, two-day, summer art event with open studios, maps and tour guides. An organizational meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Feb 15 at the home of Linda Dietel. They will discuss the date, tentatively July 2-3, as well as open studios, gallery shows, maps, publicity, and a name for this event. Cerebral Palsy Fund
The Sidney Dodson Cerebral Palsy Fund is holding a raffle with a single prize of a professionally designed and installed garden valued at $3000.00, donated by Candace Clough and Shelly Dodson of Candace Clough Estate Gardener. The drawing will be held on Feb. 28 at the Flint Hill Fire Hall at 7 p.m. with refreshments served, ticket holders need not be present to win. Winner will be contacted by phone and announced in the Rappahannock News. Tickets are $10 each and will be available at Settles Grocery or by contacting Shelly and Greg Dodson 635-8354, Amy Dodson 635 — 8354 or Candace Clough 675-2344 and where ever you see the Candace Clough Estate Gardener trailer around the county.
