Mitigation Plan has been prepared for the RappahannockRapidan Region.
The plan is a federal requirement for full funding from the federal government in the event of a disaster.
The plan, which is revised every five years, is a broad vision for the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock to reduce or eliminate a longterm risk to human life and property from hazards.
The situations that are addressed in the plan include natural and human-caused hazards.
The plain looked at the most recent federally declared disasters, which in Rappahannock County happened in March, 2003 when the area was hit with a severe winter storm.
McCarthy also presented the revision of the area’s Solid Waste Management Plan for adoption.
