Boy Scout Troop 36 of Washington, Virginia held their Winter Court of Honor on Jan. 16 in the Washington Fire Hall.
'Hie scouts, adult leaders, family members and supporters in attendance reviewed the numerous troop activities and commended the accomplishments of those who earned merit badges, advanced in rank, or received special awards.
A rousing rendition of “America the Beautiful” was followed by a review of troop fall activities, led by Senior Patrol Leader Matt Bywaters.
During the month of October, members of Troop 36 were cycling and camping along the C & O canal, a trip which may have inspired some scouts to pursue the cycling merit badge.
In November the troop joined hundreds of other scouts at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, to tour the facility and watch the Navy football team trounce Rutgers University.
December’s Wakefield Manor campout was highlighted by a day spent shooting at the private rifle range of Bob and Debra Miloslavitch, under the expert guidance of Troop 53 Scoutmaster Jim Parsons of Front Royal. The scouts are veiy grateful for the generosity of all parties who made this camping/shooting event possible.
The new year started with a ski trip to Roundtop, a fun- filled annual event, enjoyed by the adult leaders as much as the scouts.
