Sunnyside Institute has developed grazing strategies and acquired organic certification on rented land where they have succeeded in keeping cattle out of waterways.
The institute has also been noted for participation in research on innovative agriculture techniques and organic tree fruit farming techniques.
According to Rifaat, the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District awards one recipient within the Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock County region each year.
A unanimous vote was made by the board to commend Sunnyside Institute/Sunnyside Farms.
