happy to report that as of Jan. 1 a new board of directors was elected along with a new fire chief and several line officers.' Kevin Williams has assumed the role of fire chief and has gotten off to a great start. I am trying my luck, and most likely the patience of some, as the president. Our goal in stepping forward to run the fire department is to bring it back to its rightful place as a real and active part of the community. We intend to raise membership while putting a personal face on the department among the people of our area.
We will host our annual community banquet on Feb. 19 starting at 6 p.m. The department will provide ham and turkey along with various drinks and desserts. Those wishing to attend are asked to bring a covered side dish.
