Mrs. Payne hobbies and interests included cooking, gardening, knitting afghans and reading.
She is survived by two daughters- Polly Bray, Atwater, CA and Sylvia Glascock of Rehoboth Beach; son- John B. Payne, Jr. of Amissville; sisterAnnie Smallwood of Woodbridge, VA; six grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Moser Funeral Home. Interment followed in Warrenton Cemeteiy.

Myrtle M. Lofton, 91, of Stephens City, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at Bon Air Nursing Home.
She was bom July 5,1914 in Page County, the daughter of James E. and Bertie Deavers Molden. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Lofton was retired as an inspections agent for the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
She and her husband, Robert W. Lofton, were married in 1952 in Front Royal. He died in October of 1973.
Mrs. Lofton was preceded in death by her mother and father, three sisters; Kate S. Gordon, Vivian Lofton and Lizzie Baldwin; and five brothers, Virgil Molden, Jack Molden, John Molden, Leonard Molden
