According to Warren McKeen, Executive Director of Piedmont United Way, the Piedmont Volunteer Center was established as a program of the Piedmont United Way in July 2005 and serves Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties. The mission of the Volunteer Center is to promote community volunteering, connect people with opportunities to serve and assist community agencies, businesses and organizations in building effective volunteer programs. McKeen added, “Our Board and I viewed the volunteer center as an opportunity to help connect existing and new residents of the region to the communities in which they live and to provide local non-profits with more resources.”
