built from huge concrete panels, trucked in separately to the site. Dutchland’s plan would have necessitated 40 foot panel trucks to bring the concrete in, which might have meant removing trees to allow the trucks to navigate Washington’s narrow streets.
“Man, that’s a major milestone right there,” said Council member Jeff Benson when the vote was cast. The acceptance of this bid signals that the town is nearing the end of a reservoir building process that first began almost seven years ago.
Cross Connection
Survey
The Washington Town Council approved a proposal from Environmental Systems Service for updating and administering a Cross Connection Survey mandated yearly by Virginia’s health department.
“A cross connection control program must protect the system from back-siphoned contaminated water,” explained ESS’s Don Hearl. As part of the survey, ESS will inspect outside spigots, wells and “cross connection danger areas” belonging to town residents.
