The Washington Town Council voted unanimously at their January 11 meeting to accept a bid of $467,500 from the Crom Corporation to build the new water storage tank for the town’s new reservoir. Crom’s bid was lower than the $574,350 bid offered by Dutchland Inc, the town’s only other bidder for the project. Under the terms of the bid, Crom would complete the project within 210 days of being authorized to begin, or owe the town $250 for each day behind schedule. This timeline and the price of the project both include the demolition of the old water tank as well as the construction of the new one. The council was advised in their decision by Don Hearl of Environmental Systems Service (ESS). Hearl recommended Crom’s offer based as much on their plan for the tank’s construction as the lower price.
