Larger advertisements, often with interesting graphics, gave a picture of the wide range of services and products available locally. Trucks, tires, undertakers, marble, shoes, insurance, etc.; if one needed something, chances are it was available nearby and publicized in the pages of The Guide.
However eclectic this mix of front page editorial content might seem to us, it kept readers coming for 35 years, so it must have had the appreciation of subscribers and advertisers. Then, for reasons unknown, but perhaps due to factors related to the years of the great depression, The Blue Ridge Guide was sold in 1934 and condensed into a single page within the Culpeper Star until 1949 when the modem Rappahannock News began publication.
