Joyce Lindsey, the cosmetology instructor at Madison County High School, was named the recipient of the 2005 National Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award presented by ACTE - Association for Career and Technical Education, Trade and Industrial Education Division.
The engraved plaque reads, “This award is presented in recognition of the highest meritorious contribution to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of the trade and industrial education in America”.
Lindsey qualified for this national award after receiving the 2005 New Teacher of the Year in Virginia presented by VATIE - Virginia Association of Trade and Industrial Education in August. Award nominees must have been new to the teaching profession and have taught a minimum of three years but no more than five years. Nominees could be in their sixth year of teaching at the time of submission.
