Rappahannock Nonprofit Center Executive Director Bridget Chisholm is excited.
“We already have 13 groups signed up fin- the January 24 workshop and we hope to have 20 by the end of next week. The Virginia State Firefighters Association, Windmore Foundation, Rappahannock County Public Schools, WVPT Public Television, Culpeper County Office of Emergency Services, Rappahannock County Conservation Association, RappFLow, Hospice of The Rapidan, Rural Madison County, Serve Inc., and others have already registered. Seating is limited, so if you would like to participate, please do not delay in , registering,” said Chisholm.
The fee for January’s workshop is a voluntary contribution based on the annual budget of your organization. If your operating budget is less than or equal to $25,000 a year the requested donation is $20.00, greater than $25,000 but less than or equal to $50,000 the requested donation is $35.00, greater than $50,000 but less than or equal to $200,000 the requested donation is $50.00 and if you have an annual budget of more than $200,000 the requested donation is $100. If you are unable to afford the voluntary contribution do not let that deter you from attending the workshop, all will be welcome regardless of ability to donate.
Jill Skelton, Director of the Piedmont Volunteer Center will lead the four hour workshop. Jill explained that, “during the workshop we will discuss the nature of volunteering; present a profile of today’s volunteers, consider what motivates people to volunteer and the benefits of volunteering to both the community and to individuals. We will then look at the characteristics of successful volunteer programs, focusing on the development of recruitment strategies and the effective incorporation of volunteers as valuable members of participant organizations.” .
The mission of the Rappahannock Nonprofit Center is to help nonprofit organizations in our region improve their management practices and successfully attract the human, financial and other resources necessary to carry out their missions.
