Six grader Will Mullanjr earned a “finalist” slot, and then sixth grader John Morgan Christoph went up against eight grader Katie Huang to determine the other finalist, with John Morgan emerging as the winner of that round. The final round pitted sixth grade classmates Will Mullany against John Morgan Christoph, with Christoph ultimately claiming victory, having answered two of his final three questions correctly. Upon conclusion of the WCDS competition, Christoph took a seventyquestion, multiple choice written exam, which has been sent on to the National Geographic Society for scoring. The top 100 scorers in Virginia’s school competitions will compete at the state level, and the state winners then go on to compete in the national competition.
