Where can you go to get help with your nonprofit organization - whether it is a community organization, fire department or other agency where people contribute their time and effort without pay?

Well, there is a place now that offers help to your group; help with event planning, with fund raising, with grant writing — help with many ways to improve the operation of the organization.

The Rappahannock Nonprofit Center offers assistance to those in Rappahannock and four nearby counties: Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Fauquier. The Center is open and operating in the space at the Old Schoolhouse in Sperryville — with offices in what used to be Rae’s Deli.

The executive director of the Center is Melanie Kopjanski. Business hours are Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The telephone number is 540-987-8011 and the email address is

Says Kopjanski, “we want to get people together...get them talking to each other” in the non-profit milieu.

Working under a board of directors composed of eight women and men, each with considerable experience in Rappahannock nonprofit organizations, Kopjanski has scheduled several activities and events to help existing and planned nonprofit organizations in 2007.
