Rappahannock has entered the power line fray as part of one of Dominion’s alternate proposals to a transmission corridor that was proposed along Interstate 66 in northern Fauquier County, where the power company has faced stiff opposition from landowners.
The new proposed route, which would be built adjacent to an existing right-of-way would also run through southern Fauquier and northern Culpeper counties as well as Prince William County. Compared to the 1-66 plan, the new route will be 28 miles longer and cost $210 million rather than $150 million to build.
