introduction that the Board of the Scrabble School Preservation Foundation “really appreciates the support of the community and the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors for this project that has such great possibilities.”
Scrabble School, a county-owned building with a very worthy historic past, appeared to have a “bleak present” when it was closed in 1967 and left to deteriorate.
Now, there are hopes for a promising future for the old site as a new permanent home for senior citizens activities.
The rehabilitated facility would have large meeting spaces as well as a kitchen and other services valuable to both organizations.
Of special interest to many would be a planned garden and walking trails around the building as well as good parking.
All interested citizens are invited to attend the next public meeting on this project to be held February 27 at the Senior Citizen Center in Little Washington.
