Budget cuts
Cuts in the budget include Summer School fund reductions. Chappell proposes to scale back summer school expenses saving the school nearly $14,000. This includes eliminating summer school bus runs. Chappell also proposed to eliminate after-school tutoring since it is not utilized. Other savings this yean include a reduction in facility and maintenance spending and a reduction in debt payments. Chappell estimated that this years budget allows for $115,166 of reduced spending. Sagging State funding
Once again, additional State funding for the school system is minimal, partly due to a static school population and the State composite index funding formula.
. This year, projected state funding only rose 0.96 percent, an increase of $30,183. The proposed 2007-2008 budget is based on a student average daily membership (ADM) of 995.
