The most offensive portion of the newspaper item was using the following subheadline: “Some Residents Believe Historic Va. Tbwn’s Reluctant to Annex Them is Rooted in Prejudice.”
Did anyone think about th< damage that would cause an then putting a picture of the Inn at Little Washington und the caption? Whether one likei it or not “Little” Washington is! a tourist town where bed-andbreakfasts and hotels generate! tourist dollars that pay town revenue. Did anyone think something like that written in a national newspaper, and knows where else it was read, could do damage to tourist rev enue? Why would anyone warn to portray the town other then the peaceful environment that is is?
If we as Virginians have dirty laundry to air, why isn’t it aired in the town or county meetings? I don’t see many Piedmont residents at county meetings. A national newspaper is not the place to air our real or imagined grievances.
