on Soil and Microbes”
The RLEP Biodiversity Task Force continues its Focus on Habitat series with a presentation on soil and the critters who live in it by soil expert Charlie Thornton and holistic veterinarian Dr. Joyce Harman. Whether you’re trying to grow a garden or determine where to plant wtfdflowers, you need to understand soil and the tiny fauna that make up the food web within it Thornton wil explain the chemical and physical properties of soils and how the health of the sol affects the plants that grow in it and the people and animals that consume them. Harman wil expiate the importance of the millions of creatures—nematodes, microbes, and others— living beneath our feet in the soil food web that are also essential to the health of plants and those who consume them. The presentation, which is at the Rappahannock Library from 10 to 11:30 am., is free and does not require reservations. The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the NSDAR wtil meet Saturday, March 10, at 10:30 am. at the Culpeper County Library to present the Annual Good Citizen Awards The ceremony wil be presented by Mrs Thomas L. Eastham. Hostesses wil be: Mary Moore Robertson, Carolyn and Kimberly Dean. The Annual Good Citizen Awards are presented to high school seniors with the quafeties of Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism.
