Culpeper County supervisors spared no mercy for a representative of Dominion Virginia Power last Tuesday.
_ For 30 minutes they grilled Dominion’s Vice President of Electric Transmission John Smatlak, on the proposed 500,000-volt power line his company wants to run through the northern tip of the county.
Then they joined Rappahannock and Fauquier counties by voting on a resolution that opposes it.
“We are at this time probably considered the path of least resistance,” Supervisor Brad Rosenberger (Jeffersonton District) said. “I hope that when it’s all said and done we won’t be viewed that way any longer.”
Dominion claims that the new power line is needed by 2011 to protect against rolling blackouts in Northern Virginia. Under this scenario,
