softball
poised for
big season

Richie Burke has good reason to be optimistic about Rappahannock County’s upcoming softball season. As a matter of fact, he has at least five good reasons.
Five is the number of alldistrict players Burke has returning from last year’s team, which finished fourth in the sixteam Bull Run District.
Tm expecting a really good year this year,” said Burke, who is entering his seventh year as the Panthers’ head coach. “We’ve got a lot of talent from the freshmen all the way through the seniors.”
Six players received all-district honors last season. Christina Naramore was named to the first team and Katie Burke, Emily Carter, Noel Johns, Amanda Smoot and Rebecca Tupper made the second team.
Except for Johns, who is sidelined with a tom anterior cruciate ligament she suffered during basketball season, all of those girls are back this season.
