of running the Laurel Mills store which she and her husband, Bill, purchased in 1988.

“The building was for sale and there was some talk of making it into apartments,” remembered Fannon. “We made a quick decision to buy it and keep it as it had always been - a country store.”

Fannon hasn’t regretted the decision and is delighted that the store has received this honor.

She credits much of that to her two daughters, Heather and Beth, who rallied friends and neighbors to cast their vote.

“I was so surprised when I received the call,” noted Fannon. “I had no idea this was going to happen. It’s wonderful.”

Biggest sellers

Corbin was quick to respond that “beer” is by far their biggest seller. That and their bacon.
