At the recent family picnic, the Salem Ruritan Club awarded $8,000 in scholarships which is believed to be more than any other civic organization in our area.
Sue Bennett was awarded the Bill Kyle Memorial Scholarship; while the Community Service Scholarships went to Josh Makela, Meghan Smith, Brittany Perryman and Meghan Bennett. Academic scholarships went to Patrick Durry, Charlie Peterson, Megan Bedsaul, Stacy Mayhugh and Jessica M Pauley.
We congratulate each of these students for their work and receiving scholarships and many thanks to our local Ruritan Club.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Rosalie Hogan of Reva Way, who passed away last week.
Congratulations to Miss Melissa Delcour of Salem Way and a teacher at Rappahannock High School, who along with several students was chosen and is attending Governor’s School at the University of Richmond.
Heartfelt condolences are extended to Mr. Bobby Dennis and family connections upon the tragic passing of his son, Matthew Kyle Dennis, which occurred in Fredericksburg last Sunday. He was laid to rest July 28 in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodville.
