The Rappahannock County Garden Club will hold their August meeting on Wednesday, August 15, at the Washington Volunteer Fire Hall The Social Hour begins at noon and features a display of the two floral designs for the month, a creative line design entitled “Summer’s Heat” and an underwater design railed “Escape From Summer’s Heat.” There is also a display of horticulture specimens from the members. Following a brief business meeting, the guest speaker, Judy Wordsworth, will give a presentation on “Hummingbirds”. Guests are always welcome.

Congressman Eric Cantor’s District Director, Jennifer Nolen, will be at the Rappahannock County Library, Washington on Wednesday, August 15 from 34 p.m. She will discuss constituent concerns. Congressman Cantor provides this service so that constituents who need assistance or have problems of a federal nature may speak with a representative freon his office.

Sidney Dodson calendars are on sale for a $20 donation. They can be purchased at the Rappahannock Co-op, The Tobacco Store, Impressions, and Southern States in Front Royal.

Memories

Letting go is never easy. Frankie Hitt from Boston and Louise Woodard from Washington passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4. They brought smiles to everyone they came in contact with, tears to their eyes, and sometimes both at the same time. Losing a loved one is devastating, but we have all been left with a special gift, the memories. They are often the only things one has left after that special person is gone. Though at times they may be painful to think about, with thom they can remain a part of us forever. Losing a loved ono is like losing part of yourself Let’s remember to keep both families in our prayers.
