(Flint Hill, VA) Children aged 2 to 10 will have the opportunity to take ballet and yoga classes at two locations in Rappahannock County starting in September. The ballet classes will be taught at the Schoolhouse in Sperryville. Yoga classes will be held at the Rappahannock Wellness Center, located above the Hearthstone School on Route 211.

Children interested in ballet can enroll in “Ballet Classics and Fairytales”, where they will learn beginning ballet positions and moves, using costumes, music, and stories. The classes will be grouped according to age, with the youngest children accompanied in class by a parent or adult caregiver.

The yoga classes, called “Yoga and Breathing”, will focus on basic yoga poses and breathing techniques in a very kid-friendly manner. The classes for younger ages will also be offered on a “Mommy and me” basis.

The classes will be taught by Amanda Stultz Shahida, a resident of Flint Hill, who had the idea of teaching ballet and yoga to kids in the county after unsuccessfully searching for local enrichment classes for her two daughters.
