Seventeen Virginia region riders came away from the U.S. Pbny Club Championships with gold, silver or bronze medals. National finals in six sports — dressage, show jumping, three-day eventing, games, tetrathlon and quiz bee — were held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
In eventing, the training level team earned gold from 15 teams competing. Riders included Megan Behn of McLean, Christie McKitrick of Leesburg and Erica Jacquay of Oakton.
Virginia Region’s novice team scored silver. Team members were Melissa Fox and Colleen McKitrick of Leesburg, Ann Bellinger of Arlington, Jaclyn Buseck of Richmond.
The beginner novice team (Hannah Forte of Haymarket, Caroline Quanbeck of Middleburg, Katherine Briggs of Gainesville and Stephanie Sweitzer of Leesburg) claimed fourth place in horse management scoring.
In show jumping, Team #1 earned bronze out of 18 teams, and sixth in horse
