Farmland
Preservation
On Monday, representatives from the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance presented the Board of Supervisors with a check for $20,000 to support the county’s Farmland Preservation Program.
To date, RCCA has raised $57,500 for the program.. School funding team
The supervisors approved the formation of the Rappahannock County and School Funding Team.
The group will work with elected representatives on the state and federal levels as well as selected citizens to increase state funding for Rappahannock’s local government and public schools.
Supervisors Ron Frazier (Jackson District) and Roger Welch (Wakefield District) will also serve on the group, along with School Board members Wes Mills (Jackson District) and Rosa Crocker (Wakefield District).
Regional jail
No site has been approved for a proposed regional jail to serve Rappahannock, Shenandoah and Warren counties, but representatives from the three jurisdictions are still working to finalize a plan for the facility.
A special meeting will likely be scheduled for Late-August for a presentation on the plan. Drought declaration
