The 20-year-old Harrisonburg resident had some burns and a knee injury from the crash, and was transported to Fauquier Hospital in a second ambulance belonging to the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue unit.
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department managed the blaze and controlled traffic at the scene.
Ambulances from the Flint Hill and Amissville fire and rescue squads were also dispatched in case of additional injuries, but they were not needed.
Wylie was charged with reckless driving.
Cigarette burglar strikes Chester Gap
A burglar broke into Chester Gap Grocery on Sunday to steal two cartons of cigarettes.
The crime was reported at 2:41 p.m. by a man who saw the store’s door ajar and entered, thinking it was open for business. After he was in the store and saw no one else inside, he noticed that the scene looked like a break-in.
RCSO Maj. Chris Williams reported to the crime scene.
Williams said the door appeared to have been forced open. Nothing othei; than the two cartons of cigarettes seemed to be missing from the store and nothing else in the shop was damaged, he said.
