“We don’t have any decktruss systems nor do we have any [bridges] of the length of the span that was involved in the tragedy” Cubbage said.
“We have a robust bridge inspection program,” he added. Bridges in the county are normally inspected every three to six months, but at least once per year.
VDOTs actions to close the Rediviva Road bridge over the Covington River and restore the Tapps Ford 'crossing over the Rappahannock River are examples of the department being proactive, Cubbage said.
