That type of scrutiny is invaluable as a growing reporter. Life in Rappahannock moved slowly enough for me to catch up as I found time to research every issue.
Rappahannock society taught me how important it is to find the core of a problem and display both sides of the story. Watching Rappahannock citizens struggle with issues such as taxes, sludge and schools demonstrated the reality and effect each person had on the community.
Most members of this community want to slow down change to preserve the rural character of the county. No matter the debate, this goal keeps Rappahannock citizens, both new and old, together. As .the fight to slow change continues, I wish all of the best to its citizens. Although the scenic landscape of the county is clearly worth fighting for, I firmly believe that battle should never overshadow the living, breathing character of its citizens.
