The Monarchs out slugged the Red Devils with 18 hits to Culpeper’s 14, but Rappahannock committed six errors.
“We were unselfish and just put the ball in play,” Rutkowski said. “When you put the ball in play, good things are going to happen.”
Hackley led the Devils hit parade, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI. Coffey went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Wolfe went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Nobbs led the Monarchs going 4-for-5 with three RBI. Andrew Pittman also had four hits, while Jarvis went 3-for-5 with four RBI.
The Monarchs will play Woodstock on Saturday with the winner advancing to take on the Red Devils Sunday at 2PM at Culpeper’s American Legion Field.
“We’ve got to tighten up our defense and come ready to play Saturday,” Nobbs said.
