Each one has already demonstrated the ability to get well below the century mark. Boyce has a career best of 93, while both Mills and Pace have recorded scores in the mid-80s.
“They’ve got potential,” Gochenour said. “The good thing about them is that all three are very coachable, and they all want to get better.”
Gochenour said that, in spite of the Panthers’ status, most teams play just as they would if Rappahannock had a full team.
“It’s a gentleman’s game,” he said. “That’s what the game was founded around.”
Today, the Panthers will open their season against George Mason at Bowling Green South in Front Royal.
They already know their record will be 0-1 after today, but they’re still holding out hope they can get into the win column.
“All we need is one more guy,” Boyce said. “If we can get one more guy then we’ll be able to compete.”
