Old Dominical rides

The OkJ Dominion Hounds will host a trail ride Aug. 11 at the hunter trial field in Orlean. The Aug. 18 ride is from Crest Hill Farm in Hume, and the Aug. 25 ride is at Windsor Lodge in Hint Hill. New horse owner

clinics planned

Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Lisbon, Md. will host a clinic for new horse owners. Entitled if Only Love Was Enough,” the two-day horse care seminar is Aug. 18-19.

With levels I and II, the seminars are designed for firsttime horse owners and those planning to have a horse in the future, as well as long-time owners. Participants will learn horse handling and psychology; safety; hoof and dental care; health problems; care of older horses; emergency care; nutrition and parasites. Theyl also receive practical advice on .trailering, boarding and other need-to-know horse details. At the end of the clinic, participants are awarded a certificate of completion.

Warrenton Hunt

plans ride series

The Warrenton Hunt wfl host a series of Sunday afternoon rides through August Dates and places are; Aug. 12 at Springview Farm; Aug. 19 at the hunt kennels; and Aug. 26 at Merry Oak Farm. All rides begin at 5 p.m. and will last 1-2 hours, depending on the weather and footing. Light refreshments follow. The cost is $25 for adults, $10 for juniors.
