“If you think about the great grape-growing regions of the world, a lot of them are very dry areas,” said Jimm East, who owns Sharp Rock Vineyards in southern Rappahannock near the Madison County border.
“Vines put down a 40-foot tap root, so if they need water they're going to find it,” said Cheryl Kellert, co-owner of Gray Ghost Vineyards in Amissville.
