Center Networking luncheon

The Rappahannock Nonprofit Center Networking Luncheon Series will resume on the first Wednesday of the month starting in September. The first luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Nonprofit Center located at the SperryviNe School house below Antique Tables Made Daily. This luncheon series is to provide nonprofits an opportunity to network, discuss concerns and issues they are facing and to share information and resources they have found to be helpful. Sept. 5: AARP Driver

Safety Program

An 8-hour classroom refresher course designed for those 50 and over will be offered at the Willis Chapel United Methodist Church, 1804 Zachery Taylor Hwy, Huntty, VA on Wednesday, September 5 from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Those completing this 8-hour course will receive a certificate, which should reduce auto insurance costs. NO Exams. The cost is $10.00 (to cover the costs of materials). Class size is limited. All drivers should bring their drivers license to class. Sept. 9: A Revolutionary

Experience

The Rappahannock Historical Society wiH be hosting its Annual Meeting and fund raiser at Montpelier, which was the stately, colonial home of the Thornton family of Rappahannock County. Built circa 1746, this historic treasure has a wealth of history attached to it dating from the Colonial Period of our County. Please join us for a glimpse of the past complete with tours of the mansion, living history demonstrations and music, raffles and a variety of tasty finger foods. This event will be held on September 9, from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m. Tickets will go on sale on August 2 at the Rappahannock Historical Society at 328 Gay St or by mail PO Box 261, Washington, Va. The Society is open on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 11 a. m. to 5p. m. Prices are Adults - $25 in advance ($30 at the door); $10 -Children 6-12.

Sept 25: Volunteer drivers training

Need a ride to the doctor? Due to the need of many in Rappahannock County for transportation to medical appointments, a group of local churches and community organizations have developed a program known as RappMedRides. On Tuesday, September 25, the American Cancer Society will hold a training from 1 to 3 at the library for volunteer drivers. This is so Rappahannock dnvers can transport people to cancer treatment under the ACS Road to Recovery program. This can also be a refresher course for those already driving.
